On February 22, educators gathered at Brownsville Elementary School for another great NGSS workshop. Along with two facilitators, the group explored the schoolyard and considered how students might work to address problems right there in their local community spaces using engineering practices. From flooded fields to rusting basketball hoops, overgrown gardens to underutilized trails, educators brainstormed various ways to address local problems through meaningful service-learning activities. They worked through an Action Project Planning Tool to collaboratively design new lessons, and shared resources with one another in order to implement those lessons at back at school.
