Establishing a Relationship With Nature

What was tried in the classroom?

I work in early education, so exposure to nature and exploring the sensory aspects of it were priority. We took the babies outside as often as possible, those who were unable to sit and look were held went on a little nature adventure. Looking at how the wind makes the trees and leaves dance, the clouds, feeling the grass, touching a warm rock and talking about smooth or bumpy, etc. We do this on a regular basis to help babies establish a connection to nature. When babies are out of sorts and canโ€™t calm, we often go outside and they calm!

How’d it go?

Great! The babies love being outside.
