A free professional development workshop for middle and high school teachers

Thursdays, October14 – November 4, 4:00-6:00pm via Zoom plus Saturday, October 16, 8:30-12:30 onsite at Padilla Bay. This is a 5-session, interactive class. You may attend individual sessions or all 5.

Participants in this workshop will:

  • Gain knowledge of climate change and ocean acidification in the Pacific Northwest
  • Explore sources of local environmental data and work towards incorporating data into inquiry-based science learning experiences
  • Receive materials and activities included in the Ocean Sciences Sequence (OSS) curriculum on Climate Change developed by UC Berkeley Lawrence Hall of Science

What you will receive:

  • Free Clock hour credit – up to 12 hours. (STEM credits if you attend all 4 Zoom sessions)
  • Ocean Sciences Sequence curriculum ($200 value)


  • October14 – Understanding the Causes and Effects of Climate Change
  • October 16, Field investigation of climate change and eelgrass
  • October 21 – Teaching data literacy using real climate data
  • October 28 – Exploring ocean acidification with global and local data
  • November 4 – Following Carbon Flows and digging into Climate solutions
