Using Science Routines in High School Science Courses, for 3D Science Learning by Each Student

Description:
The purpose is to support regional high school science teachers to weave Earth Science and the Science routines into any core science course: biology, chemistry, physics.
The series will engage high school teachers int eh strategies and science routines of NGSS science and the integration of Earth-Space science phenomena. The series will serve as a readiness-building experience in preparation for upcoming adoption processes for new NGSS-aligned instructional materials.
The structure is a 15-hour series over 2 months.

Stipend:
Stipend: $500 upon completion of course and the classroom implementation

- Laptop (and optional notebook for taking notes)
- Current science unit – teacher’s guide, planning, etc.
- Fun hat (we will wear these during “student hat” time, when we experience lessons as the learners)
- Read one-pager Thinking Like a Kid and pay attention to your thinking:
- Mark * up to 3 phrases that really resonate with you
- Mark ! up to 3 phrases that challenge you
- Mark ? up to 3 phrases that you have questions about
- Lunch/Water/Coffee/Snacks, etc
